Q: How are Adventures by Disney destinations chosen?

A: It’s truly a team effort. Trip Development partners with many other teams at Adventures by Disney to determine where we next want to take our Adventurers. We look for places where we know there’s a story for us to tell. It could be a very clear Disney connection, or it could be a place and culture that has rich storytelling and experiences that we know would resonate with families. Sometimes, our adventurers tell us where they would like to travel next.

 

Q: What is the best part of developing new trips?

A:  There are many. At the beginning of a new project, I really enjoy diving into a new destination and researching the culture, places, and people. Not only are we researching components for our itinerary; we’re also searching for the best partners to work with. Site inspections are another fun part of the development process—it’s when I go to the destination and scout out all the hotels, regions, activities, and dining experiences. It typically calls for long days, but is the point when the connections all fall into place and we can determine what will be the best fit for Adventures by Disney. It’s also when I get to meet our incredible partners along the way, and sometimes a future Adventure Guide.

 

My third favorite part is when our guests first travel on the new adventures. It’s fulfilling to hear the feedback from our Adventure Guides and partners, as they’re so excited to meet our guests and are the ones who truly bring destinations to life. It’s equally great to hear guests’ feedback, to learn about what they enjoy most and discover opportunities to make the adventures even better.

 

Q: What is the Adventures by Disney Colombia trip, and why Colombia?

A: The Adventures by Disney Colombia trip is an eight-day, seven-night journey through a land of natural and cultural diversity—one that has been a source of creativity in art, music, dance and food not just recently, but for centuries. Located in the northwest region of South America, Colombia is rich with stunning landscapes, from the higher-altitude Andres Mountains region to the Caribbean coastal areas.

But that’s just the beginning. In addition to its range of cultures and natural beauty, Colombia is renowned for its Coffee Region and vibrant, colorful cities, like Bogotá and Cartagena. In fact, it was the inspiration for bringing the Madrigal family to life in Encanto, Walt Disney Animation Studios Academy Award®-winning film.

 

Q: What makes the Colombia adventure an exciting option for all travelers?

A: There’s something for everyone. There’s fascinating history dating back to centuries-old indigenous cultures, as well as varied architecture that marks the cultural influences Colombia has seen through its years. There’s an incredible biodiversity, with so many plants and animals to discover and so many ways to discover them—from spotting cotton-top tamarins in a dry forest to swimming with colorful fish in the coral reefs of the Rosario Islands.

 

In Colombia, travelers will also find incredible food that will appeal to every culinary aficionado. From savory arepas con queso, to vibrantly colored fresh fruit juices, to delicious Caribbean-style seafood and grilled meats, there are so many wonderful things to savor.
