Day 1

Morning

Arrival at Munich Airport. Transfer to Nuremberg (2 h 30 m*)

The charming city of Nuremberg is over 950 years old yet remains young at heart. For example, the Original Nuremberger Rostbratwurst is known far beyond the borders of Nuremberg.

Afternoon

Food Walking Tour: From Bratwurst to Gingerbread with Cookionista

Take a culinary tour of the historic center with anecdotes about Nuremberg’s history while sampling traditional Franconian cuisines, such as sausages, beer and gingerbread.

Lebkuchen-Baker’s de Luxe Workshop: Bake and decorate your own Elisen-Lebkuchen (traditional gingerbread) and take your self-baked Lebkuchen home.

Tour Red Beer in Deep Cellars: Beneath Nuremberg’s old town is an extensive labyrinth of 600-year-old rock-cut cellars, where the traditional Nuremberg Rotbier (red ale) matured.

Shop: Breuninger, an upscale German department store, offers an exclusive selection of international designer brands. Personal shopping, bespoke tailoring services, shuttle services, its own confectionery dessert shop and cocktail bar provide visitors with a pleasant experience.

Day 2

Morning

Transfer from Nuremberg to Franconian Wine Country, wine village of Randersacker (1 h 30 m*)

Wine growing is deeply rooted in Franconia. Young winemakers, like Thomas Schenk, bring fresh ideas into this old tradition. Take a cellar and vineyard tour with wine tasting and food pairings at Schenk Winery.

Transfer from Randersacker to Würzburg (20 m*)

 

WELCOME TO WÜRZBURG

Art, culture and Franconian wine are a way of life in Würzburg. It’s an ancient episcopal seat and a vibrant university town with a baroque, distinctly southern feel surrounded by beautiful vineyards.

 

Private city tour and visit to Würzburg Residence: The former residence of the prince bishops of Würzburg is one of the most important palaces in Europe and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

 

Dinner at Juliusspital Weinstuben: Wine has a long history and centuries-old tradition at the Juliusspital Winery. It is one of the largest Silvaner wine estates and the second-largest winery in Germany.

Day 3

Morning

Transfer from Würzburg to Bayreuth (2 h*)

WELCOME TO BAYREUTH

Bayreuth, located about halfway between Munich and Berlin, is not only the home of Richard Wagner and the world-famous opera festival, but the city is significant because it offers over 1,000 delicious local beers brewed at more than 200 craft breweries in the region.

Afternoon

Walking tour of Bayreuth: Take a guided walking tour through the historic city center of Bayreuth.

Visit Margravial Opera House: The marvelous 18th-century Margravial Opera House is a UNESCO World Heritage site called a “masterpiece of Baroque theatre architecture.”

Visit Richard Wagner Museum: Gain insight into the life of the musical icon. A permanent exhibition describes the life and works of Richard Wagner.

Evening

Tour and dinner at Maisel’s Beer Adventure World: The Guinness Book of Records lists the Maisel Brewery and Cooperage Museum as the most extensive beer museum in the world.

Day 4

Visit Bayreuth's Hermitage Park: Stroll through the magnificent Hermitage Park to admire its "New Palace,” a fascinating piece of park architecture with the central sun temple crowned by Apollo, the god of the Muses. The parks and gardens here are one of Central Europe’s most spectacular formal gardens.

Visit Burg Rabenstein: An 800-year-old castle where royals like King Ludwig I of Bavaria were guests. The castle grounds offer many activities, from medieval markets to medieval-inspired events such as knight battles, falconry and fire shows.

Transfer from Bayreuth to Munich (2 h 30 m*)

Late morning

Guided city tour: Covers Munich's old town and various attractions, including Marienplatz (square), Frauenkirche (church), Hofbräuhaus and Munich Residenz

Day 6

Take a day trip from Munich: Explore the Bavarian Alps with Munich Wanderland. Go on especially curated easy to mid-level hikes, all designed as day trips starting from Munich, offer great views of the Bavarian Alps and an authentic Bavarian food experience in an Alpine hut. Or stay at brewery hotel, Brauereigasthof Hotel Aying right outside of Munich for an authentic Bavarian village experience.
