G Adventures

A Pioneer of Community Tourism

At G Adventures, we have always believed in the life-changing power of travel, but for that power to exist now and ideally for many future generations to come, we need to travel in both a sustainable and responsible way. Traveling responsibly means giving back as much — if not more — than what you take away, while respecting the cultures, traditions and environments that you encounter along the way. Yes, travel should be incredibly fun, but we also believe travel needs to be a force for good for you, for local communities around the world, and for the world itself. It’s what we call “community tourism” and we believe that it is the way forward.

G for Good

G for Good is our commitment to making travel a force for good. It stands for all of the social,

environmental and ethical good we create as a business. From animal and child welfare policies to climate action to guidelines for traveler conduct and respect for local communities, we take the privilege of travel seriously and understand the power of travel to change the world.

Trees for Days

Launched in 2023, Trees for Days is our latest initiative in partnership with Planeterra and Reforest that grows one tree for each and every day a traveler is on an adventure with us. So a 12-day trip means 12 trees will be grown in that traveler’s name. Trees For Days is more than just a tree planting project though, it has been designed to benefit communities by tangibly mitigating the impacts of climate change (e.g. drought, floods, soil erosion, desertification), improving community resilience and well-being, and inspiring travelers and host communities to become guardians of nature. Over 3.8 million trees are growing so far!

Ripple Score

Talking about contributing to local economies is great, but we wanted to find a way to show

travelers exactly how their dollars can actually help support the places they visit, and hold ourselves accountable in the process. So, in partnership with Sustainable Travel International, we created a tool that calculates the percentage of money we spend locally on trip services like accommodations, restaurants and transportation. We call that number the trip’s Ripple Score, and we list that number on each of our trip description pages. The higher the Ripple Score, the more money that stays in the local community. It’s our way of showing just how much impact travelers’ money has on the places they visit.
